When I was in college I lived with their family for two years. She was a toddler back then. I always tagged her along whenever I went out. I remember vividly our escapade to Alabang. We ate in a fastfood restaurant. People are piling up in the counter and there was only one available table. We took the table. I instructed her to remain seated in her chair. Back then, It never crossed my mind that leaving a kid alone is too risky. When I think of it these days, I shiver and utter a silent prayer that she was not kidnapped.
She's in her last year in college taking up BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). She was exiled in Lucena for reasons I can't imagine she would be doing. Not my beloved cousin!
She got friends, she's into college, she got boyfriend, she's been drinkin', and she got superb kind parents.
Those days were tormenting both to Kai and her family. Mostly to her family that loved her so.
Recently, I asked her what had happened, what made her act that way. She could only reply, "I don't want to talk about those nightmare in my life anymore. I've learned and turned myself to the Lord." and she added; "I am about to receive my Diploma in Nursing. I am happy."
Wrong turn. We have our own wrong turns. It can break us or develop us into a fine human being.
